Learning to Laugh

Looking back, there was a time when I feel like I happiness nowforgot how to laugh.

I’m sure that I found humor in things, and I’m sure that I enjoyed my kids (because they were tiny then) and I’m sure that I was (as I am today) prone to laughter; however, looking back…

I don’t ever remember being this happy.

I don’t ever remember laughing at the ridiculous and letting it’s challenge to bring me down and crush me slide off my shoulders in my rush to laughter, happiness and joy.

I can pinpoint the moment.

I remember thinking, “WAIT!  I’m 48!  I’m only 17 years away from when I thought I’d be starting my retirement in the fashion of my dreams… AND I HAVEN’T EVEN STARTED YET!”

That was it for me.  September 2012.  My Epiphany

We all have different challenges, and even if our challenges seem similar, they are unique… because they are OURS.

It was in September that I started my journey.  Like most of my journey’s it has started in one place… with a specific goal in mind… and as of today, I have experienced so much growth and expansion that I found myself blocking out a 5 hour block on Sunday to reassess my short term and long term goals.

As a life coach, I’m all about goals.

I like to find out where someone is today.  Not where they were… but where they are TODAY.. and more importantly… WHERE THEY WANT TO GO.

The unexpected side effect of actually having a plan, a goal and action steps is… happiness!  For me…  It has been a liberating, empowering and humbling experience.  This is joy.

I have never been so happy, so content and fulfilled as I am now.  It’s not just providing the services that I provide to my clients… it’s more.   It’s my decision.

Hmmm… It’s more than a decision… it is the process, it is where I am today, it is knowing about being in the moment… it is LETTING GO!   It is recognizing what is holding me back and deciding to move forward anyway. The celebrations of success… my power to control what I think and not let my fight/flight dictate how I run my life… It is practicing non-judgement ESPECIALLY with people who are trying to push my buttons… (non-judgement removes the buttons and there’s nothing to push)  It is… waking up each morning and automatically expecting…. anticipating… experiencing a wonderful day.

I couldn’t have done it without my “mentors”  …  If you want to follow the same path… Start by reading.

Here’s my reading list… I know, I know, it’s a crazy compilation…
